2018 Spring/Summer Season

Here are the details for the 2018 Spring/Summer season
Registration now OPEN for
 new and returning teams


·       Season begins April 23, 2018

·       14 Game regular season + 1 playoff game minimum

·       All teams make playoffs division finals are a best of 3 series (prizes for division winners)

·       New game format: 3 x 15 minute stop time periods

·       New overtime format: 3 on 3 overtime 5 minutes running time, followed by sudden death shootout if necessary

·       New lower League fee: $3,990 ($3,800 + $190 gst)

·       Team bond: $100 to cover penalty fines (refundable at the end of season)

o   Note with refundable bond, total payable is $4,090 to register ($100 credit remains on team account)

Payment details:

o   Reserve a spot with a $500 deposit at time of registration, remaining amount due by March 22, 2018

o   Or pay full amount at time of registration

o   Deposit/registration fee is fully refundable prior to closing date of March 22, 2018

·       No games scheduled on holidays or long weekends

o   April-June: Monday to Friday games; July-August: Monday to Thursday games.

·       All games scheduled in Sherwood Park Millennium Place, Glen Allan Recreation Complex or Sherwood Park Arena

·       Game times start as early as 6:30pm and as late as 10pm.

·       All games feature two scheduled referees and one timekeeper.

We would like to congratulate the winners in each division for the 2017 season! 
Division 3: Ice Hawks win over Jets in two games
Division 4: Flyers win over Jagr Bombs in two games
Division 5: Phantoms win over Night Train in two games
Division 6: Flying Dutchmen win over Sharks in three games
In addition to receiving a $200 gift card courtesy of Average Joes, each of the winning teams will receive a $200 discount on registration fees for the next summer season. 
We would also like to extend our thanks to every team that participated in the SSHL this season, we hope it was enjoyable for all players. Any feedback or comments are always welcome for Terry or myself, and we hope to see everyone back next year!

We are happy to announce league sponsorships with Average Joe's Sports Bar, Smytty's Edge, and Baseline Panago for the 2017 season.
Each sponsor is providing the following for teams and league participants:
Average Joe's Sports Bar
Each player will receive their own player's card to use at Average Joe's Sports Bar that entitles them to the following:
  • $5 team perogies
  • $5 off any 15" pizza
  • 10% off regular priced menu items
Cards will be valid at Average Joe's throughout the Strathcona Summer Hockey League season until September 1, 2017, and must be displayed at time of purchase.
In addition, championship teams from each division will receive a $200 gift certificate to Average Joe's Sports Bar.
Smytty's Edge
Smytty's Edge, located at Millennium Place, will be providing a discounted flat rate of $5 per sharpening. Each player will receive a 2017 Smytty's Edge sticker to go on the bottom of one of their skates.
Notice for players: When bringing skates in for sharpening, let them know you are in the league, and show the sticker on your skate for the flat rate.
Baseline Panago
Over the course of the season, each team will receive pizza brought to their dressing room after one of their games courtesy of Baseline Panago. Notice will be provided to team coordinators the week they will be receiving their pizza.
